First Haircut!

I did it! I finally broke down and gave my wild and wooly twosome their first haircut! They were admittedly getting a bit shaggy. Hubby and all of the older boys were after me daily about their shagginess and the fact that the tails needed to go – so I did it! Here’s before and after (and the before was definitely taken on a good hair day haha).
It’s funny, we have 4 older sons but I never got caught up in any emotional stuff in regards to their first haircuts! So I was a little surprised that it had taken me so long to take care of business with these two and how I kind of didn’t want to do it!
I also forgot just how wiggly babies are when getting a haircut! So biggest brother held them one at a time while they got it done! Regardless of how they felt about it, he loved it! He talked to them the whole time telling them how handsome they were going to be and how cute they looked – it was really sweet! He kept on commenting on all of the “fluff” that was covering everything. “I didn’t realize that babies had that much fluff” he’d say or “wow, that’s a lot of fluff you’re losing.” It helped make an otherwise potentially frustrating job funny!
It’s been a long time since anyone got their first haircut around here and truth be told I’ve always done the first one with scissors not the shears! But I decided to go gung ho about the whole thing and lopped off all of their locks in one fell swoop! Well, not one swoop really – it actually took several! And in the end I still have a little trimming to do. The hair around one of M’s ears was completely missed and the top right side of E’s cut is much longer then the rest of the top – the story of every cut for the first couple years of a boys life though!
P.S. For those who are curious the boys are in reverse order in the two pics! In the wooly picture M is on the left and E is on the right and in the “after” picture it is vice versa!
