We don’t ask for much and we don’t ask often. I never stopped to wonder why this is, but I’ll talk a little more about that next time. We encountered a situation this past Fall that spelled uncertainty for us. What to choose, when to choose, how to choose. We knew we needed clarity and decided it was time to ask the Man Upstairs.
My husband has been blessed in his line of work (acoustical ceilings) to progress through the ranks. He took on a position with a bit more upward potential last spring and it was progressing nicely. We had also opened up our own company to take care of the random business that simply found my hubby. One of the main suppliers of business for us was a man (we’ll call him “D”) that hubby had worked for at the previous company and was well respected. He was now busy with a company he was a partner in and they had acoustical work they needed handled.
This fall ”D” began asking hubby what he might think of coming to work for a company that was just starting up an acoustical division. It seemed like what my Hubby likes to refer to as “Pie in the sky”, but he told “D” that he’d be willing to discuss it down the road. At the time he was content with the company he worked for and had just moved into a Superintendant position with them. He had also begun discussing his long-term career goal with the owner of the company . . . becoming a Project Manager/Estimator.
All seemed to be progressing nicely and hubby and I discussed how in the world we were to know which path to take when presented with the serious possibility of two solid job offers, one that may land him in the office position he wants and the other that would guarantee it but held other risks.
We decided that no matter how crazy it sounded we needed to ask that the path be made unquestionably clear. We could not imagine how, but we simply began to trust.
A couple of months ago strange things began happening with my hubby’s employer and as we look back now that was the beginning of the end of one of the two ”paths”. A trust was broken, more than we even realized at the moment, but respect was lost and that was just the beginning.
Over the next few weeks my hubby came home every night in a different mood. Something I’m not used to with my very even keel man! He was clearly on a roller coaster mentally and even emotionally and I was beside myself. Clearly something was very wrong and all I could do was say little things here and there to instill reason where it was lacking and PRAY!
My husband had brought over several of his long-time friends and co-workers to work for him at the company and step by step new issues came to light as they shared things that the owner had attempted to hide from some of the management. Toward the end of that time a real job offer came from “D” . . . the dream job hubby had been working toward for so long suddenly dropped in his lap. Hubby had been telling the company owner that this was the one job offer he would not hesitate to leave the company for. It was then that it hit us.
Suddenly the path was absolutely fog free the cloud had lifted and frankly, we were mystified. A strange reaction maybe, but we had gotten out of the habit of asking. A simple act of committing a need, thought, want, reality into the very capable hands of our Lord and allowing Him to accomplish the unthinkable. An amazing peace began to settle once again over our home and especially over my husband.
Today Hubby began his new position with a new yet familiar employer. No, we do not assume that there will never be hiccups but he’s excited and anticipating more great and wonderful things. Why??? Because now we aren’t hesitating to ASK!

Wow! That’s such great news and congrats to you both!
I understand what you mean about forgetting to lift things up in prayer. It seems so obvious sometimes that we just plain overlook it.
I tend to be good about lifting up the big things. It’s the smaller things I fail to give over. Failing to pray over the small things is a big mistake.

I truly believe that if you ask and you believe it will come to you. We can’t figure out the “how”, that’s what God does and we believe that he will lead us to where we are suppose to be. Once our eyes are open to things its amazing the things we see and become so clear. His work is amazing.
Yeah for your hubby, you and the little frogs! Great post!
