Double Trouble Twins

I know that there are many parents of twins that do not like it at ALL when people refer to twins as Double Trouble. I can see why in some cases, but there are times that even my youngest brother and oldest son (who are 2 1/2 years apart) are called that, so I have absolutely no problem saying it when the twins are acting that way!!!

I mentioned last week that the twinks are fairly opposite at the moment, but there’s one thing that they have ALWAYS been alike. They are always determined to cross any boundaries given and laugh in the face of the one who gave them.

We really do enforce the rules, but trying to keep up with the two of them is proving more challenging than I thought. As they get older, their ability to put their heads together to achieve the impossible is becoming more and more refined!

We are constantly amazed at the things they are capable of and the trickery (LOL) involved. Seriously! If you have given one or both of them a boundary they WILL consider that a CHALLENGE 100% of the time! This means that even if you only gave the boundary to one of them, they will both try to demolish that boundary as quickly as possible. It is almost like that’s what they live for!

So, once a challenge boundary has been issued it is almost like watching a play (if you’re in a really good mood – if not, it can seem like a nightmare). One will go for the boundary while the other innocently plays or looks like they are doing something else. As you discuss the boundary, remove from the boundary and distract from the boundary the other twin will proceed quietly to the boundary and begin where his brother left off. I KID YOU NOT!

This will go on and on and on. One thing that these particular two year olds do NOT seem to have in common with their non-twin 2 year old counterparts is the short attention span. Wait, no, I take that back … only when they are being naughty! When they are naughty, they have no limit to their attention span. When they are given a project to do, they can’t seem to stick with it for any period of time *sigh*.

There you have it, the extra-abilities of twins when they are “Double Trouble”!
