Just a note …
This is really big news people, 50 Blogs will be giving away $6000 worth of computers, equipment and software thanks to HP and Microsoft Windows Live. It’s called the HP Magic Giveaway and is available exclusively through the 50 bloggers they have selected (you can see the list at the link I gave).
Thankfully FireMom at www.StopDropandBlog.com has been keeping us all informed when new giveaways go up so that we can participate in as many of them as possible and her own giveaway just went up HERE. You can also enter at Living In Theory and many other blogs. Each blogger that is offering this giveaway has specific requirements of their own, so be sure to check them carefully before entering.
Most of the blogs offering this incredible package are requiring that you share at least some of the prize and some are going to choose the person who is planning on sharing the most (Sadly, I won’t have a chance at the ones asking you to give most of it away since I really do need much of this prize for my own sons but I will definitely share what they don’t need…it’s what I do!).
This prize would mean the world for my sons … Literally!
This is actually quite difficult for me, after all, this blog has been dedicated to sharing, supporting and encouraging moms. Focusing on the positives and trying to learn and move on from the not-so-positives. So making myself stop and think about the amazing ways that a prize like this would change my life for the better is a very different experience for me.
I’m sure that most of you totally understand how amazingly miraculous this package would be for our family. Meeting the everyday needs of our 6 sons by keeping them well fed, clothed and housed leaves little to nothing extra for the things that don’t meet the “basic need” criteria. Being totally honest here, things have been very tight lately and I’ve been seriously wondering how we’ll do everything we need to for the boys.
Don’t get me wrong I am ever so grateful for everything we have. We are blessed to finally have all our boys healthy. We own our home – we owe waaaaay too much for an 1100 square foot house and the payment is astronomical, but it’s ours. My husband is employed and I take care of our kiddos so there isn’t an extra expense there.
None of the boys really have access to a computer at home and our oldest desperately needs one, not only because he’s in Jr. High, but also because he has a learning disability and is struggling in school. We are finally going to be taking him in for testing on Wed. Dec.17 to find out what we need to do to help him succeed! I’m sure you all understand the frustration and emotional turmoil of standing helplessly by while your child flounders and maybe even fails. The smaller laptop would definitely be going to CJ!
Then we have Tater and Salesman … ages 9 and 10 and in 3rd and 4th grade. They could definitely use a laptop to share as they currently do not have access to a computer. They are very intelligent little boys and I have long dreamed of being able to provide them with a computer so that they could write their papers easily and use some of the excellent education software I have seen recently.
The entire family could use the TouchSmart and I can only imagine the world that would open up for our 5 year old as he gets ready to start kindergarten, and maybe even our 2 year old twins.
My printer works …. sometimes LOL! It would be absolutely dreamy to have a wireless printer and the idea of actually being able to print out our photos is almost too much to hope for. I have always loved HP printers and they have held up well for us which is very necessary around here (the current one is several years old and is an HP).
Amidst all of our own need though, I can’t help but think about the experience we had when our little Twinkies were in the NICU for 2 weeks after they were born prematurely. It is a lonely experience and despite the efforts they make, it is easy to feel isolated and overwhelmed. Having access to a computer while there even for an hour or two would have been wonderful. So, one of the ways I would share this prize is to give at least one of the laptops to the NICU my twins were at so that the parents there have access while their precious little one is there.
Thank you all so much for listening to my little plea! I would be blessed beyond words!
If this is your first time here, please feel free to take a few minutes to meet my Frogs here and here, and maybe even check out a few of my Mommy Reality Checks!

Wow Shera! It’s challenging enough being a mom of 3 busy little boys – six must keep your hands and heart full all the time!! I’m sure the NICU would appreciate the laptop for use of families. My sis’s little girl had heart surgery and it meant so much to her when the hospital had computers for the family to access.
Good luck and take care!

Your family would be truly blessed to receive such a wonderful package!
My son was born premature, and was in NICU for 10 days. How I wish I could have had computer access then, but when he was born, computers and the internet weren’t nearly as prolific as they are today!
Blessings to you and your family, and good luck!

It sounds like your boys could use a couple of these Magic packages…and use them well! It is wonderful to see a mother who wants to see each of her kids, and her whole family, reaching new heights! Thanks for inspiring!

I feel your pain! When I posted I said we were probably the only family who could actually use all the goodies (we have 12 – 6 boys, 6 girls, with nine still at home.) Teenagers eat a LOT!
Over and over I have said we are all really winners as we ‘find’ one another and connect. I am interested in finding out more about web design. We just launched my daughter’s site at http://www.hannahmadesoaps.blogspot.com – I’d love your input, and to find out pricing for the future when we are able to reinvest our profits into a bigger and more robust website. It doesn’t get much better price wise than free, but I know you ‘get what you pay for’ too. Let us know what you think of the site, and then lets talk pricing! I hope we’ll be there in a few months. I am very optimistic!!

What a creative idea for donating the laptop! I would guess that having that connection to the outside world would be such a comfort for the parents as they wait there.
