I can handle just about anything the world throws at me … but I fell so weak when the world throws something at one of my boys. Best of luck!

I am sorry to hear about your heartbreak and the frustration your son has had to endure. And, I understand your anxiety about the future. Homeschooling is a wonderful option and I am excited at the possibilities for you and your son.
We have been homeschooling for 2 years and our oldest is 7. We have found it to be an awesome experience, though trying at times ;P It is a journey of learning that a family takes together and it has allowed us a closeness that I think would be difficult to maintain if our children were at school all day.
I have links to resources on my blog, if you are interested. Of course, you can google homeschool and get pages and pages to wade through, but that can seem overwhelming at first. If I had to pick a site to start with, I would choose this one: homeschooling.gomilpitas.com and searching yahoogroups for a local online homeschool group to join is a great way to find support.
I wish all the best for you and your family! Congratulations on taking this big step!
Warm Regards,
~Melissa

Oh Shera, I’m sorry the school is being so… unhelpful. (I have other words in mind, LOL!)
I’ve been described as “assertive” by my son’s home health nurse in terms of the therapy and other treatments I got for my kids. I think it’s a mama bear instinct to push and get what’s right for your kids… even if it means If homeschooling fits for your son, then I wish you great success with that, and I will pray that it all goes well.

I hope everything works out – good luck with homeschooling! We’re starting the evaluation phase with Abby this year (second grade) and reading posts like yours makes me realize that no matter what comes out of it, the school doesn’t know better than we do. Thanks for sharing this!
