I’m going to pose a horrible question today…what would you do if your child died tomorrow? Not one of us want’s to truly consider what our answer would be. But I’ll bet that when all was said and done, the feelings could be summed up in one sentence….
Enjoy every moment with your children today!
Seems simplistic, I know, but I guarantee you that although none of us even wants to consider that possiblity, we all know that we can’t undo what will happen tomorrow, but we can live better today.
I’ve been given my 6 sons for a season here on earth…and as much as I want it to last forever, somewhere in the back of my mind, I always remember that I have no idea how long God plans to keep them here.
I have to be totally honest with all of you right now…I spend way too much time whining, nagging and not being thankful! I do! I shudder to think of all the times have I gotten angry and spouted off about stuff that, when all is said and done, is trivial!
Today in the light of just such a tragedy for another family in the momblogosphere, I have found myself stopping often to just watch my children play. Ignoring the task at hand to reach out and give them a squeeze. Giving each of them an extra peck on the forehead as they pass to enjoy their lunch. Being more creative in my discipline by directing them instead of reacting.
And although I realize that I should be doing this each and every day, it’s times like this that we realize why and it sinks in just a little deeper!
This post was inspired by the tragic sudden death of 17 month old Maddie Spohr yesterday. { The link takes you to her March of Dimes page since their blog is down right now due to their hosting company shutting them down because of the amount of traffic they were getting. Some lovely bloggers are in the process of moving her site right now, so soon you’ll be able to see it again here.}
I pray that today you are inspired and encouraged to take a second look at your children and spend a few extra moments just enjoying being their mommy!

I couldn’t have said it any better. I just heard about the loss and it has also made me stop and be in the moment with my little ones. It’s sad how something like that just creeps up on you.

I would be devastated if something were to happen to my children. Thanks for the meaningful post. We all need to be reminded of the priviledge it is to have our loved ones with us.
