The Weekly Scrap – Stores to Check Out

I think I learned about digital scrapbooking in one of the most unusual ways possible…one of the owners of Faith Sisters applied to be added to our Blogroll at 5 Minutes for Faith.  After that I created a couple of pages here and there (not my best work folks), but mostly I hovered and continued along my merry way.  In about February of this year, I started getting really sucked in and simply couldn’t resist any longer!

Because of my schedule, I kind of just hovered there at Faith Sisters to learn a bit and in April I joined the site Creative Team (CT).  It was my first CT, though I am on another now as well and have a few more I’d love to get on.  You see, that’s how it is.  After being an AVID scrapbooker until the twins were born, I had missed it so very terribly!  Now, it’s like a balm to my soul to have found a new way to create such beautiful work…and without the mess (not that I minded) that I do not have room for any longer.

The last two months, I have been branching out and trying to discover other scrapbooking communities, shops and websites, so I hope to share what I’m discovering with you over time…thus the weekly scrap.  Some weeks I will feature a designer, some weeks a shop or a few shops, some weeks a tip or trick, and some weeks just simply a page.  Eventually I’d like to offer all of you some freebies as well, but many of the sites I direct you to will offer those anyway.

This week, I’d like to send you to a few shops I have discovered over the past month.  I may feature some of these again later, but I know it can be super helpful to know about all the different places to find kits to use on your gorgeous memory creations as well, so enjoy!

  • The Digichick: I’m new to this one, but impressed! The designers there are amazing, they also offer a great forum community and a gallery.  I have not had the opportunity to get involved in either of these since I so recently found them and joined, but what I have seen is very fun!
  • Shabby Pickle Designs: I discovered this one a couple weeks ago because one of my all time favorite designers just moved there.  You will find plenty of amazing kits by amazing designers as well as a forum and gallery (all layouts submitted must feature at least some product from their shop).
  • Divine Digital: Yet another shop with unbelievably amazing designers!  Another site that offers a forum and gallery (hint: most do, just decide which ones you want to participate in).
  • Scrapbook Graphics: Ok, so this one I’ve known about for a long time thanks to their CU products, but I only recently looked at their amazing product line.  Again offering a great community (forum) and gallery.
  • Natural Designs in Scrapbooking (NDISB): This is one of the shops where you will find 4 Shades of Blue designs (I CT for her) and many other amazing designers.

I could honestly go on and on and on, but I just don’t have the time or the room…and I don’t want to overwhelm you.  If you are still in need of a great software, check out Adobe Photoshop Elements.  At Costco it is under $100 and I saw it recently with an instant rebate of $40 making the entire software around $60 (yay Costco!).  You can also check online (Scrap Girls is one of the best I have found) at the many retailers and see what else is available.
