Wow, we’ve had a little bit of everything here this last week! Thanksgiving myself and the babies were a little under the weather with a cold, but we went along with all of the day’s festivities. We always start the day by watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, then we went to his brother’s house for the afternoon. All in all it was a nice and relaxing day to give thanks for all we have been blessed with!
Friday, Hubby assessed what needed to be started under the house in regards to repairing our foundation. Saturday is when everything kind of went downhill. M put his hand on a vaporizer and completely burned the middle finger on his right hand (deep 2nd degree). It was horrible. Since he is an infant still, they don’t know to move their hand when something happens. They know they hurt, but don’t know what to do about it. Hubby was across the room holding E and didn’t realize that the vaporizer was in the room, and since I was in the shower I hadn’t warned him about it yet. Anyway, later we realized how bad it was and took him into the walk-in.
Thankfully the blister was completely in tact still which is the best protection he could have for his burn at the time. We were able to keep the blister in tact (albeit very full of fluid) until Monday ~ when J decided to yank his hand off of a lamp and broke it open. That required another trip to the doctor to have it reassessed, all excess skin cut off and the finger dressed. He actually didn’t mind it as much as we thought, so it wasn’t as traumatic as it could have been.
In the midst of all of this we began to experience a heavy winter storm on Sunday. This storm proceeded to knock out power to most of our county and many of the surrounding counties. In fact my sister’s power just came back on last night (Thursday). Thankfully we now have a generator and were able to operate all necessaries during the power outage. Driving is still terrible! It is an ice rink on our roads still, but the more major roadways are just wet now.
I’m overwhelmed with the fact that I haven’t begun my Christmas shopping and I’m quickly running out of time. I know it will all come together in the end, it always does, but in the mean time it can be a bit stressful.
Well, that is truly our week in a nutshell!
More later,
Shera
