Wow! Once again, I find it amazing just how quickly time is passing! I am so thankful that I have this blog to record all of the “Twin Happenings”! They are picking up new words every day! Still think peek-a-boo is the funnest ever but have added playing ball with Daddy to the list of fun things to do. He says it is actually more like playing fetch, but they love it!
I took them in to their Pediatrician yesterday for their 15 month well-child appointment. Here’s the technical stuff: M is 22 lbs 3 oz and 31 1/2 inches long and E is 22 lbs 4 oz and also is 31 1/2 inches long. That puts them in the 65% for height and 30% for weight which is staying steady with where they have been for the last 6 months or so. It’s funny though because they seem so little compared to our other guys! Mr. Lion (3 1/2) has been in the 100% for weight and 75% for height his whole life – he is square! So after him they are just teeny little guys.
They are truly such a joy and always entertaining. I love each new development and stage. Sure there are some things that come up and have to be dealt with, but overall I could not be more delighted with two little creatures. Now, having said that I have to admit that going out in public is not my cup of tea! I prefer to stay home.
They are already (and I can only assume it will get worse haha) doing the whole twin “divide and conquer” thing! Yesterday M saw a group of people walking through the waiting room and decided that that must be THE place to go so he toddled after them “deedeedeedee” (sorry, my thoughts always include sound effects). Chasing after him I go as the older couple that was sitting near us were almost in hysterics over their antics.
Oh, and come to find out we are now in a stage where if the stroller isn’t moving we aren’t going to put up with just sitting there – No siree – we have places to be and things to do! Just sit there – HA! So as we are waiting to be called back E decides to lodge a protest. It starts out fairly quiet, but soon is booming through the waiting area (mostly elderly people waiting for another area).
So I get him out and he plays with the big wooden toy (my worst nightmare – I don’t like them to touch anything in the waiting room since they get sick so easy), and since I hadn’t remembered any toys or food I let him play. Soon M decides that this opportunity is too good to pass up and wants out too. Now, I have to say here that I don’t mind them getting out as long as there is a semi-confined area for them to play in (that way I’m not running 7 different directions after 2 babies) but it makes it a little complicated when we are called back to see the doctor! The Nurses and MA’s that work for our kids’ Pediatrician all know us well and I have no problem handing a baby over to them to carry back, but how on earth do I navigate the stroller 3 year old and another baby? This will have to be worked out better for future appointments let me tell you!
As far as illness is concerned we have been ok. They had a bout with another sinusy respiratory thing that landed M on antibiotics again, but E handled it and never needed antibiotics this time around. I’m hoping that we will soon be to a point where we can have more than a couple of weeks that are illness free! They did have one immunization yesterday at their appointment and M had a pretty high temp as a result – something they haven’t done before! E was fine, no reaction at all, but within a few hours M started running a fever and by that evening it was over 103 – ugh! Today though, they are a little fussy, but the fever is under control.
