Things were actually pretty mellow around here today! I’m not feeling great and both babies are sick – argh! Thankfully there were some really fun movies on for the family today, so after hubby and the older boys returned from Church we had a pretty relaxing afternoon – Dennis the Menace and Dennis the Menace Strikes Again were on and my boys were rolling on the floor over his many misadventures! It is always a joy and blessing to see my boys laugh!
As far as April Fools is concerned the only thing that I did is make blue-green pancakes and called them Snot-cakes. Ok, for those of you with weaker stomachs or only used to the sensibilities of girls, this may definitely not be up your alley, but I’m trying to let go of my prissy ways and give in to the mentality of a boy – a little anyway. Thus the birth of snot green pancakes for breakfast. Thankfully the boys loved the idea and really had fun with it – coming up with stories behind them – they took my idea and ran with it.
You see, the only thing about being a mom of this many boys is that I am always afraid they will take something like April Fools Day and turn it into a nightmare. This can happen so very easily with boys – unbelievably fast! So the basic idea I’m trying to instill in them is to have fun with the day but not make it frustrating, hurtful or malicious in any way. I am very happy to report that they pretty much let the day go by without pranking anyone! I know not to expect this in the future and I’m sure that we will have many prank filled teen years with unending new ideas, but for now I’m happy the way it is.
