These little guys have been fairly slow growers. This I am thankful for after some of the mammoth growth spurts a few of the older boys were famous for. It’s nice – they are my babies, I don’t want them growing up too fast. Our oldest son definitely grew too fast! He started out very big though, so I guess that was to be expected. It wasn’t until our third son was born that we were able to experience the joy of a child who grew slowly.
I am positive that this will sound very odd to many, but these are after all my 5th and 6th sons and I just want to enjoy the moment.
That said, we are needing to purge a ton of clothes that simply don’t fit them anymore. They have three cubbies filled with clothes, one for pajamas, one for shirts and one for pants. The problem is that even though these drawers are practically overflowing, over half of the clothes in them really don’t fit the twinkies any more!
They are crazies though! They think they can climb and get into anything – limiting them is definitely more of a challenge than I’m used to. I am very sure that their next older brother – the Strong-Willed King was preparation for them. I don’t know how to adequately describe the daily challenges they set before us and I wish I could say that I was up for them 100% of the time. Alas, I am not! There are days that I just muddle through simply trying to keep them from killing themselves – or each other!
They haven’t been sleeping well lately and that makes for a tired mommy! Last night was the first night in over a week that we were able to sleep through the night. I am a little concerned today though because TwinkeM won’t leave me. If he gets down he starts to fuss and immediately wants back up. He has become sleepy, has a bit of a productive cough and is a little lethargic. He doesn’t have a fever at all and I don’t know if that makes me more nervous or not. With some of our children we have had more health problems in the absence of a fever than when there is one. I’ll be keeping an eye on him today to see what happens.
In the midst of it all though TwinkeE is VERY happily playing and getting himself into much mischief! He seems to enjoy being naughty and always has a twinkle in his eye!
These babies have a tendency to “dare” us to punish them. They honestly think they are too cute to be disciplined or told “no”. It is a challenge for sure! I am trying to be very consistent with them as I can see that they are definitely spoiled from having so many “big people” doting on them. They are funny and we definitely have to quell laughter and smiles often in order to take appropriate measures to teach them right from wrong. But we love them through it all and want the best for them. So with their healthy dose of discipline they will always still get tons of hugs and kisses and cuddles.
