I can’t resist and it’s been a while since I’ve posted one of these! We get so many questions about daily life, eating habits and just how in the world . . . ? So, I have occasionally posted some of these questions and the answers. So today we are going to tackle life with one bathroom.
Things can definitely get interesting when you have 6 people sharing a bathroom (the twins aren’t potty trained yet of course)! Especially when one of those people is a potty training 3 year old! So we have to be creative and strategic about it all. Truth be told, since we have all boys, they have been known to use a tree if they are in the back “forest” area instead of coming in.
As the only female in the house I have to plan my attack carefully! The boys are quite respectful of my privacy though (well, not the three year old!) and they are getting very good at checking before they enter the room (though I usually lock it if I need privacy).
I guess that for the most part it really isn’t as bad as it seems like it would be. Son2 (Otter Boy) & Son3 (The Beaver) take their showers at night, Son1 takes his either right before me or right after me in the morning. I usually get my shower first thing (if I don’t I have to wait until the twins’ morning nap). The three youngest get their baths after they older boys are all off to school. And Daddy takes his shower in the evening!
Weekends can get a little hairy with some serious line ups at the bathroom. We try to make sure that those who “can’t wait” get in as quickly as possible while still being diplomatic about the whole “first come, first served” idea!
I think that pretty much sums it up! Oh, except to say that one always must wipe the seat or they will be sorry! We are working on it, but let’s face facts there are 7 males living here most of which are under the age of 9! Need I say more?
