A Healthy Family
I love this chapter! Praying for the health of our children. Even taking it one step further and BELIEVING for the health and healing of our children!
From the common cold to things that are far more serious, we have the ability to pray over our children and believe that He is big enough to do the best for them! Sometimes the outcome may not be what we expected, but if we don’t leave it in His hands we won’t know for sure!
Since the birth of the twins we have experienced a double dose of our “usual” gamut of winter illnesses. We have had our fair share of croup and breathing treatments through the years with some of our boys, but the babies doubled everything up. Being 6 weeks premature they are at a greater risk of getting RSV for the first 2 years of their life. They proved it their first year and I’m hoping for better health this year.
That said though we have been enormously blessed as well. Amidst all of the breathing issues and croupy lung illnesses, ear infections, bronchitis and pneumonia;, a broken foot and even stithces; none of our children have actually ended up needing to be admitted to the hospital or even go to the E.R. (walk-in clinics can be a wonderful thing). For this I am inexpressibly thankful!!!! But I will continue to pray, and pray and pray for the health and healing of my children! After all we’ve got a long ways to go to get these boys raised!
This week I will add a focus of prayer over their health to my list and I will also be asking the Lord to give me wisdom as we go through each day. What can I be doing as a parent to create a healthful home environment and even to help prevent potential illnesses that my sons may be exposed to or bring home!
A few thoughts for the Journey:
“He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5
“And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up.” James 5:14~15
