I just realized today that I hadn’t put this post up, so I want to apologize in advance for my tardiness!
I know I have said it time and time again that I am amazed at the beautiful simplicity this book is offering me. Hope, joy, sorrow, peace, understanding, wisdom . . . these are just some of the emotions I encounter while reading this book and praying for my sons.
How to fit them all in, yes, that can be a challenge, especially since I feel it necessary to pray for each of them individually. So I often feel the need to go straight to the oldest boys and cover them first. Not because they are more important ~ no, it is simply because as a mom I have failed to pray for them as often as I should through the years and I want to “make up for lost time”. A lost cause to be sure, but it’s on my heart to do what I can for them NOW! They are entering (or have entered) one of the most challenging and changing times of their life.
This chapter covers one of the many topics that have weighed heavily on my heart, especially for my oldest son. What an encouragement it was for me to read the following statement:
“. . . when we pray with and for them about everything, . . . then our children will develop a hunger for the things of God. They will know that the things of God are top priority. They will become God-controlled and not flesh-controlled. They will long for His ways, His Word, and His presence. They will fear God and live a longer and better life.”
Stormie Omartian – The Power of a Praying Parent
I have mentioned before that I am surprised to find myself so often practically weeping over each chapter and each prayer I am reading. It means so much to me to have this tool for becoming a better prayer warrior for my children!
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” Matthew 5:6
