Here’s the latest stuff on the little guys! The last two posts have great information about recent things too so be sure to check them out as well!
Favorite things to do:
- Sit inside toy bins (empty or full) and laundry baskets that are full of socks.
- Pull out clothes bins and empty them.
- Climb over the shoe basket behind Daddy’s chair and look out the window.
- Attempt to break into any room or cabinet that is “locked” or closed.
- CLIMB!
- Go outside!
- Cuddle with blankets that Mommy is trying to fold!
Developmental Milestones:
- Running (or trying to)
- Words: M – really only tries to say Mom and Da and signs “All Done”. E – Says Mom, Da, Hello, Football, Ball, All Done, Bye, and maybe a couple more I’ll need to listen to him closer today; he signs “All done” and “more” if he feels like it!
- I guess that climbing is a developmental milestone too – EEK!
- Does that include moving furniture and baskets around to facilitate their climbing?
- Throwing a ball
- Run around the room kicking a soccer ball – very cute!
- Tons of chattering!
Other Stuff:
- They do seem to have very definite opinions about things! And they have begun to test the waters of throwing temper tantrums! E still throws himself backward, sometimes for the fun of it, but if he doesn’t want to do something he can become extremely difficult to hold. M has begun throwing himself on the floor face down and screaming if he feels he has been wronged.
- They idolize their big brothers! Especially Son1 who is 11 years old! If they are hurt and he is the closest one they will run to him. My heart still melts every time I see this!
- I still wonder what they will be like as they get older – the fact that they are told so many times every single day by so many people that they absolutely are “The cutest baby ever” has to have some sort of impact on their life! Right?
- E has been surprisingly healthy for the last few weeks and M has been the sicky. He has been congested and coughing for a few weeks now though it does seem to be improving.
Eating and Sleeping:
- They no longer eat ANY baby food and are growing like weeds! They eat an entire PB&J sandwich EACH for lunch sometimes have a cheese stick too.
- They have been on whole milk for about a month now – once they decided that it was actually ok to drink! Once we ran out of formula this time we went ahead and gave them their night bottle with only whole milk in it and they seem fine with that.
- They do still have one night bottle (each of course) about half an hour before bed-time. There’s part of me that would like to see that go, but another part of me sees just how relaxed it makes them so I’ll give it a few more months.
- They sleep in designated cribs right now. It made it easier to tell who was getting up when in the middle of the night when things tend to get confusing! Silly but true! Also they have their own big blankets that they sleep with – My mom made them for their birthday. M’s is bugs and E’s is monkeys – these suit their personalities perfectly by the way – but they are too big to have to haul from one crib to the other so we decided just to leave everything and see how it goes. Now it is actually almost as if they don’t sleep as well in the other crib (I tried it the other day and ended up putting them back the way they were)!
- E sleeps through the night consistently. Neither has night feedings anymore. M usually wakes up about 3am (like clockwork) – I haven’t figured this one out yet.
