I know this is a Life With Boys monday (the post is below), but I had to share. Sanity is hanging on by a thread and for the moment things are fairly mellow, but that isn’t how it’s been so far.
I detest mornings that begin badly! Today was one of those days. It is freezing outside, and sometime in the middle of the night our pellet stove (main source of heat for the whole house) went out. I assumed that it was out of pellets and just snuggled deeper into the covers baby feet sticking into my back and all. Of course they were in bed with us! Not only was it cold in the house, but they are fighting colds which makes them light sleepers.
Hubby got up early as usual, but Monkey Boy thought that all should be up at that time. I continued to try to get him to go back to sleep while I listened to the radio to see if there were any school delays. I heard nothing, so once I thought Monkey was back to sleep I silently crept into the bathroom.
You see, I always try to get my shower in before anyone is up in the morning. As funny as this may sound (there are very few mothers who do not understand what I’m talking about here), that is “MY” time. It is the only guaranteed few minutes throughout each and every day that I know I will have to myself, and that fact by itself is strangely relaxing! Alas! Monkey Boy was not asleep and before I had even stepped foot into the shower I was doomed. Before I was done Baby Bug had entered the room and they had begun making trouble. And this was the first thing of the day.
Sadly it simply got my morning off to a terrible start, which put me in (gulp) a bad mood. I have been edgy ever since. To make matters worse I do not think Monkey is feeling well at all, so as I type this he has fallen asleep in my lap . . . highly irregular behavior. I’m hoping that this little lull in craziness is a better sign for the rest of the day! Tater is getting an award at an assembly at school this morning, so I’ll be off to that in a bit . . . I hope!
