Wow, the baby shower finally happened! That’s right, we finally held the baby shower for my sis. She’s been experiencing a lot of preterm labor with this pregnancy, so there were a few of us (myself included) who actually wondered if she would even be able to attend.
This is the only baby shower planned for her though and we had gone all out for it, so we were thrilled that it turned out so well! My sister was sooo happy with it, which of course was the whole point.
We went with a shabby chic tea theme and literally did everything from scratch!!! From the invitations to the food, everything was prepared by our own little hands. Truth be told, this isn’t something I’d do often and we had never done anything quite this elaborate before.
This is my sister’s first pregnancy that I haven’t been pregnant too! I’ve been thoroughly enjoying that fact and it may be responsible for the ultra shower we ended up with. The “triplicates” (my twins and her youngest son who is 5 weeks younger) are at the door of the age of 3, so it’s been a while since there’s been a new baby in our family … 9 years since there’s been a baby girl.
Anyway, I thought I’d show you a bit how the shower went instead of spending this whole post talking about it (LOL).
It all started with the stationery – invitations, placecards, favor bags and tea cards to be placed in front of each kind of tea (incidentally Caramel Apple is one of the flavors we didn’t end up serving because of a lack of strainers LOL). To the left is an image with all those things and to the right is an image of the favors we created. We made tea bags from loose leaf tea and placed a fun tag at the end of each bag that said the flavor and thanked guests again for coming. The confetti is from Pink Poodle Boutique and features a piece that is an ultrasound picture of the baby!!
Here’s a detailed picture of the favor bags that each guest got to take home! Each bag contained two teabags (my mom and I made them), confetti and a thank you note … all wrapped up in a cute pink organza bag. All of the guests loved these and there were 4 different flavor favor bags for guests to choose from.
The food was amazing, Tessa simply couldn’t believe all of the food and truly enjoyed it! There were yummy tea sandwiches.
One of the things we made sure to do at the shower was have a tea table just for all the little girls who attended.
There were 8 little girls (10 and under) and they were honestly in heaven! My niece (known here as Princess by the way) had the honor of serving them all tea and they had all the same fancy dishes and food that the adults had.
I even made sure they had their own game during that part of the shower!! The prize … Precious Girls Club goodies of course!
My neice had the opportunity to sit right next to her Mama during the gift opening and she definitely felt like she was part of it all … she was sooooo excited.
They both had fun opening the gifts.
The shower started at 3pm and went on until about 6pm or so. I’m just thrilled that my sister had so much fun. She got a lot of great things … many clothes, but a lot of great items that she really needed to be truly ready to have this baby!
Hope you enjoyed this fun baby shower success story!
